Super Stock SBC Update – .500 is Great in Baseball

Long story short – we didn’t make it.

May 10th has come and gone. One engine is complete, shipped off to it’s new home in New York. Another engine is scattered between my garage in Long Beach, and two separate machine shops in Santa Clarita. I am hundreds of miles away from both engines, stuck in Indianapolis for the remainder of the month. Let’s go Graham Rahal.

SHIPPED – Willis Motorsports Engine 23-01 (2023, Build #1)

Engine #1 – SHIPPED

I was extremely relieved to see the forklift take the motor out of the back of my truck. The past 2 weeks have been an absolute grind to get here. On its way to Rochester NY, soon I’ll meet up with this engine at the dyno. Then we will find out if all this work was worth it. If all goes to plan, this engine will be in a car and on the track June 9th at Spencer Speedway. We’ll keep you posted of the results from the dyno and the track.

“Just take a little off the top” – Me to Ryan (Owner of JGM Engineering in Santa Clarita CA)

Engine #2 – Still in the Womb

Can’t blame anyone but myself for this one. I was hoping to have this one assembled and shipped before I left for Indy, but just ran out of time. Good work takes time, and good machine shops have plenty of work. Long story short- if you’re going to build an engine, order the parts NOW, and get them to the machine shop ASAP.

Life Update – Off to Indy

I have the coolest job in the world – I am Graham Rahal’s Trackside Engine Tuner. The Indy 500 is May 28th, and there’s 3 weeks of practice, qualifying, and other track activity that I need to be here to support. It’s a grind, but I still can’t believe Honda pays me to play with these race engines. Make sure to watch May 28th on NBC, and hopefully you’ll see us in victory lane!
